2004 High Performance Athletes -- triathlon


These Triathlon Manitoba members are High Performance Athletes for triathlon for 2004. (For high performance Junior, Duathlon, and Long Course athletes, click here.)

The Elite/A/B time standards are documented in our 2004 High Performance Program document.

Provincial Team members are those athletes who represent Manitoba at the 2004 Canadian Triathlon Age Group Championships in Kelowna on August 22nd. (The 2004 Canadian Triathlon Age Group Championships were cancelled because of lightning and flooding on race-day!)  Junior athletes in the Under 23 and Under 19 categories qualify for spots on the Provincial Junior Team.

National Team members are those athletes who met the national performance standards at the 2003 Canadian Triathlon Age Group Championships in Edmonton, and then represented Canada at the 2004 ITU Triathlon World Championships in Madeira-Funchal Portugal on May 8, 2004 (yes, 2003 Nationals was the qualifier for 2004 Worlds). Junior Athletes Erin Braun and Amy Briscoe competed in the draft-legal Junior Sprint event.

Jeff Morier wins the amateur race at the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon (updated on October 13, 2004)

Jeff Morier won the amateur race at the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon held on July 17th in Minneapolis. He placed first overall out of 931 athletes (656 males) in the Olympic distance non-drafting race at 2:02:24 . Click here to read Jeff's post-race interview with TransitionTimes.com   .

Mark Lehmann was the only other Triathlon Manitoba member in the race. He was 67th male at 2:22:07.
