2003 Junior Athletes

2003 Junior Athletes -- Triathlon

In 2002, the International Triathlon Union implemented new age categories and distances for the Junior events at Worlds. There is now a Junior Sprint distance for athletes aged 16 to 19, and an Under 23 category at the Olympic distance for athletes aged 18 to 23. Both races are draft legal. All categories are based on your age as of December 31st in the current year of competition.

Junior athletes competed at the Canadian Junior Triathlon Championships (Junior Sprint) on July 26th at Magog Quebec. Qualifying races for funding are:

Triple Threat Triathlon, June 8, 2003
St Malo Triathlon, June 22, 2003
Free Spirit Triathlon, July 6, 2003

As a result of her results (5th) at the Canadian Junior Triathlon Championships, Jenna also qualified for the 2003 National Triathlon Team that competes at the 2003 ITU Triathlon World Championships in Queenstown New Zealand on December 6th.
