Junior / Youth Program
Manitoba Youth Team Program Information
The youth program is aimed at athletes aged 10 to18. Dave Lipchen is the Head Coach and can be contacted at trigeekcanada@hotmail.com
. Questions can also be directed to the office 925-5636 or trimb@shawbiz.ca
The program runs year-round, and is broken into two sessions -- Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter.
Starting October 5th, the Triathlon Manitoba Youth Team will be entering its
Fall/Winter session which will run from October 5th to March 31st. You must be a
member of Triathlon Manitoba in order to participate in the Youth Team
program. If demand exceeds space, preference will be given to those
participating in multiple workouts per week. Sessions take place at
the Pan Am Pool and Birds Hill Provincial Park.
Fall/Winter Program
Option 1 - Five workouts per week - cost $1020 (6 months) -- $170/month
Option 2 - Three workouts per week - cost $600 (6 months) -- $100/month
Option 3 - Two workouts per week - cost $390 (6 months) -- $65/month
Program Fees
The cost for the various program options are based on the sessions, and can be
paid in one lump sum or by providing post-dated cheques for the length of the
session (ie for the Fall/Winter session, one cheque or 6 post dated cheques
would need to be provided for October, November, December, January, February,
and March). Cheques are due at the first practice with all required forms
completely filled out.
Program Cancellations/Vacations
Athletes missing training days due to other commitments/vacation will not be
reimbursed for missed days.
Parental Support
At the Saturday workouts only during the Fall/Winter session, we ask parents to
take a turn each week watching the bikes in the Hall of Fame at Pan AM while the
group swims. With everyone taking a turn, you may only need to stay and watch
the bikes once or twice during the Fall/Winter session. In the Spring/Summer
session, parents are encouraged to bring their bikes
and ride in the opposite direction of the kids at Birds Hill park to help keep
tabs on the athletes well being. Also, we ask for assistance to watch the
kids in the open water while we swim to help out in case of emergency. We
thank all parents in advance for assisting with this duty.
Equipment (Spring/Summer session)
Participant's bikes must be in working condition and safe to operate before
arriving for Wednesday and Saturday's bike workouts in the Spring/Summer
session. The coaches will not have time to fix bikes
before a practice. If a coach deems your bike unsafe due to any equipment
defects/malfunctions, you will not be able to participate in the practice. All
athletes must have a helmet or they cannot participate during the bike
portion. No exceptions.
1st Annual Man/Sask Winter Training Camp (December 28th
to December 30th -- unofficial date)
Manitoba and Saskatchewan will meet for a fun, intense, and informative Winter
Training Camp in Manitoba this year. Combined with a swim team and rowing
team, this will be a truly multi-sport event. The venue will move back to
Saskatchewan the following year.
The Regional Youth Championships are held in the summer where Manitoba and Saskatchewan teams will meet for a fun competition for the Markham Cup. 2009 saw the biggest teams from both provinces to date compete for the cup with a well organized race and clinic in Saskatchewan. Manitoba will host the race and clinic for the 2010 Regional Youth Championships.
Fund Raising for uniforms
The Triathlon Manitoba Youth Team is holding a one day triathlon event to help
off-set costs of team uniforms and gear for the 2010 season. We will be
hosting the Lac du Bonnet Adult Race. All Youth Team athletes and parents
are encouraged to help volunteer for this one day event.
