2000 Junior Team Athletes


These athletes met junior/youth, male/female, A/B time standards in qualifying races during the 2000 season.

Juniors (ages 17 to 19) race at Olympic Distance (1500m swim, 40K bike, 10K run).   The Provincial Junior Team athletes in this age group represented Manitoba at the 2000 Canadian Junior Triathlon Championships in Drummondville on July 2nd.  Kevin Breiter won the bronze medal at that event.

Youth (ages 13 to 16) race at Sprint Distance (750m swim, 20K bike, 5K run), and had four qualifying races prior to Junior/Youth Regionals at Riding Mountain on August 19th.

At 2000 Junior/Youth Regionals at Riding Mountain, all of the above Juniors and Female Youth, and also Brent achieved the same time standard that qualified them for the Provincial Junior Team.  In addition, Jacques Marcoux (Winnipeg, 15 -- 1984) achieved his first "Youth Male B" time.

Finally, Allan Redman (Brandon, 17 -- 1982), achieved "Junior Male B" time during the 2000 season.


Bronze medal for Kevin Breiter at the Canadian Junior Triathlon Championships (posted on July 2, 2000)

Kevin Breiter clocked a time of 2:00:30 to finish 3rd in today's Canadian Junior Triathlon Championships in Drummondville Quebec.  Also racing in the Junior Elite (draft legal) category was Allan Scott who finished 14th with a time of 2:19:49.
