August 20, 2000 --- Riding Mountain Triathlon results
Triathlon Manitoba is pleased to announce the success
of the Riding Mountain Triathlon, which took place on Saturday August 19, 2000 at Clear
Lake, Wasagaming, Riding Mountain National Park. There
were 188 participants in the race on Saturday, and 69 Kids of Steel on Sunday.
On Saturday, the race featured a Sprint Distance of a
750M swim, 20K cycle, and 4.7K run as well as an Olympic Distance of a 1500M swim, 40K
cycle, and 10K run.
The overall Male winner in the Sprint Distance was
Kevin Sutton (of Saskatchewan) with a time of 1:04:48, and the overall female winner was
Kim Gusdal with a time of 1:15:22. The
overall Male winner in the Olympic Distance was Patrick Peacock with a time of 2:06:42,
and the overall female winner was Sarah Robbins (of Saskatchewan) with a time of 2:27:46.
The overall Male winner in the Kids of Steel Junior
Distance was Kyle Crowston with a time of 17:36 and the overall Female winner was Alina
MacMillan with a time of 19:52. The overall Male winner in the Kids of Steel Senior
Distance was Brent Miller with a time of 32:15 and the overall Female winner was
Jacqueline Coles with a time of 36:48.
The Riding Mountain Triathlon was Junior/Youth
Regionals for Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and NW Ontario.
Each team's point total was determined by their four best individual point
earnings. Saskatchewan had 4 athletes
competing, while Manitoba had 14 athletes. Manitoba
won the Markham Cup again this year with 180 points to Saskatchewan's 86.
