May 24, 2000 --- Prestige Duathlon #3
Triathlon
Manitoba is pleased to announce the success Race Number Three in the Prestige Duathlon
Series which took place on Tuesday, May 23, 2000 at Birds Hill Park which featured a 2k
run / 13k bike / 2k run, as well as a Kids of Steel distance.
The overall
male winner was the repeat winner from Prestige Duathlon #1 and #2, Patrick Peacock, who
again retained his hold on first place with a 34:56 finish.
Second place went to junior triathlete Kevin Breiter in 35:13. Following in third was Philippe Chabot in 35:34.
The overall
female winner was Prestige Duathlon #1 and #2 winner , Carina Rondeau in 41:52, following
in second place was Cherrie Fournier in 42:09. Third
place was captured by Amy Briscoe, in 42:41, Amy is a youth participant who has placed in
the top three overall women at both Prestige Duathlon #1 and #2.
This race
was the last race in the 2000 Prestige Duathlon Series.
The overall male series winner for the second straight year was Patrick
Peacock. The overall women's winner was
Carina Rondeau. Good luck to both Patrick
and Carina who as a result of winning the series qualified to represent Manitoba at the
Canadian Duathlon Championships at Kananaskis Village, Alberta on August 26th.
Upcoming
races on the Triathlon Manitoba race calendar are: the first Kids of Steel event of the
year will take place in Brandon on May 27, 2000. Registration
is from 7 - 8:30 outside the Sportsplex and the race begins at nine. Tuesday May 30th at Birds Hill Park is
a Bike Tie and Run event.
