August 14, 2001 --- 16th Annual Riding Mountain Triathlon


Triathlon Manitoba and Hot 101 FM in Brandon is pleased to announce that the 2001 Riding Mountain Triathlon in Clear Lake, Wasagaming, Manitoba will take place on Saturday August 18th. This will be the sixteenth year for the Riding Mountain Triathlon.

The Riding Mountain Triathlon is a very challenging and scenic course. Two distances are offered, a Sprint Distance race where competitors can do a 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run and the very popular Standard distance event that will see competitors doing a 1500m swim, 40km bike, and 10km run. The race starts at 9:00 a.m. at the Main Beach. There are currently over 200 competitors registered for the 2 distance events.  It is expected to be the biggest triathlon event in the province this summer. This race is also the last event in Triathlon Manitoba's Grand Prix Series and Sprint Series where points are awarded throughout the season to determine Provincial winners.

The excitement continues on Sunday August 19th, with the Kids of Steel Triathlon. This is a fun and popular event in the series for kids between the ages of 8 through to 16 years. Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 9:00 a.m.
