July 31, 2001 --- Upcoming Triathlon Events

Triathlon Manitoba is pleased to announce that some of our junior team and provincial team members will be racing for Manitoba at the 2001 Canadian Duathlon Championships in St Albert, Alberta this coming weekend. This race features a 10km run, 40km bike, and 5km run. Participants have the opportunity to earn spots on the 2001 Canadian National Duathlon Team that will be traveling to Rimini, Italy on September 11/12, 2001 for the ITU World Duathlon Championships.

At the inter-provincial level, Manitoba is sending a team of youths to race at the Manitoba/Saskatchewan Junior/Youth Regional Championships in Duck Mountain, Saskatchewan on Sunday August 5th. Representing Manitoba will be:

On the local race calendar, Edie Fisher, 2001 World Silver medallist in W40-44 group, is hosting the 6th Annual Essex Road Mountain Bike & Kids of Steel Triathlon in Kenora, Ontario on Saturday August 4th. The Kids of Steel event for children ages 8 - 16 years starts at 9:00 AM and the Sprint Distance race for adults and youths, the event consists of a 750m swim, 15km cycle, and 5km run, begins at 1:00 PM.
