July 3, 2001 --- Canadian Triathlon Championships in Drummondville, Quebec
Manitoba Team Results

Triathlon Manitoba is very pleased to announce the excellent performances of our Provincial Team Triathletes at the 2001 Canadian Triathlon Championships in Drummondville, Quebec on Sunday July 1, 2001.

Congratulations to 2001 Provincial Team athletes Edie Fisher, Allan Scott, and Jeff Morier, and also to Age Group Athletes James Clements, Mickey Stokotelny, and Norm Cameron for earning berths on the 2001 National Team that will compete at the 2001 ITU Triathlon World Championships in Edmonton on July 22, 2001. They earned their spots by their performances in their respective age groups at Nationals on July 1st.

Edie, Allan, and Mickey won medals: Edie was 1st in F40-44 in a time of 2:21:44; overall she was the 12th woman of 134 competing. Allan Scott earned a bronze medal in M20-24 in 2:08:36, placing 12th overall. Mickey claimed silver in the M65-69 in 3:30:47.

Jeff Morier just missed a podium finish in the M30-34 age group; he placed fourth and earned himself a spot to Worlds. Jeff has the top Manitoba finish for the day in 2:07:36; overall he was 9th in a field of 282 competitors. Way to go Jeff !

Jim Munro was also on the podium. He placed 2nd in M50-55. Congratulations Jim! Jim had already earned his 2001 National Team berth at the 2000 Canadian Triathlon Championships.

2001 Provincial Team athletes Kevin Breiter and Patrick Peacock also had already earned 2001 National Team berths at the 2000 Canadian Triathlon Championships. Patrick placed 7th in the field of 62 M25-29 competitors in 2:11:21.

Philippe Chabot was the 7th Provincial Team athlete competing in Drummondville and placed 9th in the M35-39 category. High Performance athlete Dave Lipchen also competed and had an excellent race placing 8th in the M20-24 category. Dave had already earned his 2001 National Team berth at the 2000 Canadian Triathlon Championships.
