July 3, 2001 --- Tri Star Triathlon Results

Triathlon Manitoba is pleased to announce the results of races held at the Provincial level this weekend. The Tri Star Triathlon Club in Southport, Manitoba hosted the Tri Star Sprint Triathlon and Kids of Steel Race on Saturday June 30th. The club put together an excellent event for the 90 participants who came out to compete.

For the Sprint Race (750m swim, 20 km cycle and 5km run) the youth girls continue to challenge the field. Youth Erin Braun, from Triple Threat, placed first in 1:10:57 and teammate Amy Briscoe claimed second in 1:11:41. Kim Gusdal was third in 1:16:28.

On the men's side the youth males swept the overall placings. Lennon Harder, in his first sprint race, placed first in 1:15:01. Steven Budowski was second in 1:15:40; following in third was Sasha Levasseur in 1:16:15.

The top junior girl and boy in the Kids of Steel event were Serena Bredin and Keith Mitchell respectively. The junior competitors complete a 100m swim, 5km cycle and 1km run. In the senior event, which consists of double the distance, Samantha Cross and Erich Krzysztofik were the top finishers.

The next upcoming events on the Triathlon race calendar will be in Pinawa on July 7th and 8th. The Saturday a Kids of Steel event will be held at the Pinawa Pool and Sunday follows with a number of events to chose from: a Standard distance, Sprint or Duathlon event for Youths and Adults. The newly formed local club, the Pinnacle Triathlon Team, will be hosting the
event.
