July 15, 2002 --- Tri Star Triathlon 

Triathlon Manitoba is pleased to announce the upcoming Tri Star Triathlon on Saturday July 20th in Southport, Manitoba (5km south of Portage la Prairie).

The local Tri Star Club will host two events; a Kids of Steel event for ages 8 to 16 and a Tri-a-Tri for ages 16 and up.

The Kids of Steel event has three different distances:
8 to 11 years 100m swim, 5km cycle, 1km run
12 to 16 short 200m swim, 10km cycle, 2km run
12 to 16 long 300m swim, 15km cycle, 3km run

The Tri-a-Tri is a great distance for beginner triathletes, but is open to anyone. It consists of a 300 m swim, 15 km bike and 3 km run. The swim for both events takes place in a pool.

On-site registration takes place from 8:30 to 9:30 AM with the race starting at 10:00 AM.
