July 15, 2002 --- Canadian Age Group Triathlon Championships

Triathlon Manitoba is pleased to announce the results from the Canadian Age Group Triathlon Championships held on Sunday July 14th, 2002 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Congratulations to Provincial Team athletes Jeff Morier, Allan Scott, Patrick Peacock, Brian Schroeder, Doug Pickering, Jim Munro, Edie Fisher, Jenny Ayers, Cherrie Fournier and Karyn Kowal as well as age group athletes Chris Jamieson, Dave Lipchen, Lynne Laporte, Sharon Adamchuk and Mickey Stokotelny who earned berths on the 2002 National Team that will compete at the World Triathlon Championships in Cancun, Mexico on November 9th and 10th, 2002. The entire Manitoba Provincial Team qualified to go to Worlds, however, some athletes have chosen not to go.

Jeff Morier had the top Manitoban time of 2:05:59; he finished 4th in the Male 30 to 34 category and 6th overall. Provincial Team members Allan Scott, Jim Munro, Jenny Ayers and Edie Fisher all had podium finishes. Age Group athletes Mickey Stokotelny and Chris Jamieson both had podium finishes. Mickey finished first in the Male 70 to 74 age category, and Chris
finished second behind fellow Manitoban Allan Scott in the Male 20 to 24 age category.
