July 5, 2002 --- Pinawa Triathlon Weekend
The
Pinnacle Triathlon/Duathlon Club is hosting a triathlon weekend on July 6th
and 7th in Pinawa Manitoba.
Saturday
July 6th starts off the weekend with the annual Pinawa Kids Of Steel
and adult Tri-a-Tri. This is the fourth race of the 2002 Kids Of Steel series.
New in Pinawa for this year is the Tri-A-Tri event, which is a great distance
for beginner or inexperienced adults.
This
event is open to kids ages 8 and up. Distances
are as follows:
8 to 11
100m swim, 5km cycle, 1km run
12 to 16 (short) 200m swim, 10km cycle, 2km run
12 to 16 (long)
300m swim, 15km cycle, 3km run
Adult Tri-a-tri
300m swim, 15km cycle, 3km run
Registration
is accepted onsite from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM, with the race beginning at 9 AM. All
races start at the Pinawa pool.
The
following day, July 7th, presents the Free Spirit Triathlon and
Duathlon. Pinawa is known for its fast, flat course, which will see many of
Manitoba’s top triathletes and duathletes racing for time qualifications to go
on to national and world championships.
The
race distances for Sunday’s events are as follows:
Sprint Distance Triathlon 750m swim / 20km cycle /
5km run
Standard Distance Triathlon 1500m swim / 40km cycle / 10km run
Duathlon 10km run / 40km cycle / 5km run
Registration at the Pinawa Marina runs from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM with the race starting from the Pinawa Sailing docks at 8:00 AM.
