May 9, 2002 --- Prestige Duathlon #1 Results
The overall male winner for the short distance event was youth athlete Jacques
Marcoux of the Triple Threat Triathlon Club, in 38:12. Youth athlete, Lennon Harder captured second place in 40:14. Following in third
was Kevin Miller, one of the race organizers, in 41:27.
The overall female winners for the short distance were won by three youths all from the Triple Threat Triathlon Club. Teresa Samek claimed first place
in 44:13, Jill Dobrinsky was second with a time of 45:12 and following closely in third was Carolyn Wernham in 45:36.
The overall male winner of the long distance was Patrick Peacock from the Tribalistic Triathlon Team in 1:08:35. Second place went to Kevin
Breiter, the 2001 Canadian Duathlon Champion, who is back in Manitoba training, in a
time of 1:11:10. Following in third was Darcey Harder, Head Coach of the Tribalistic Triathlon Team, in 1:11:40
The overall female winner of the long distance event was Jenny Ayers of the Tribe in 1:22:15. Lynne Laporte from St Albert, Alberta took second place
in 1:25:08. Third place went to youth athlete, Erin Braun from Triple Threat in 1:26:30.
The Tuesday Night Series at Birds Hill Park is an excellent opportunity for novice athletes to familiarize themselves with the sport. It's also a
popular venue for the experienced to whip into race shape. The distances are short and the prices are small. New to the Series this year for
runners, is 3 "run only" categories of a 2k, 6k, or 10k run course.
Each race starts at 6:30 PM with on-site registration taking place starting at
5:15 PM in the East Beach parking lot. The next race on the Tuesday night schedule is
May 14th - Race #2 in the Prestige Duathlon Series.
