September 5, 2002 --- Triathlon Manitoba members to Canadian Duathlon Championships

The 2002 Canadian Duathlon Championships will be taking place this coming Sunday, September 8, in Calgary, Alberta. This race features an Olympic distance duathlon, consisting of a 10km run, 40km bike, and 5km run for participants in the elite, under 23 and age group categories. Juniors compete in a sprint distance event, featuring a 5km run, 20km bike, and 2.5km run. The elite, under 23 and junior categories are all draft legal races. The following Triathlon Manitoba members will be competing:

Participants have the opportunity to earn spots on the 2002 Canadian Duathlon Team that will be traveling to Alpharetta, Georgia, USA on October 19/20, 2002 for the ITU World Duathlon Championships.

Meanwhile on the local race calendar, the Kids of Steel Series wind-up event will also take place Sunday at Birds Hill Park for children ages 8 to16 years. A Tri-a-tri is also being offered for beginner adult participants. On site registration is at the East Beach from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM and the race starts at 9 AM.
