June 29, 2004 --- Pinawa Triathlon Weekend

The Pinnacle Triathlon/Duathlon Club is hosting a triathlon weekend on July 10th and 11th in Pinawa, Manitoba.

Saturday, July 10th starts with the annual Pinawa Kids Of Steel®. This is the third race of the 2004 Kids Of Steel® series. This event is open to kids ages 8 and up. Distances are as follows:

Ages 8 to 11          (100 m swim / 5 km bike / 1 km run)
Ages 12 & 13 short      (200 m swim / 10 km bike / 2 km run)
Ages 12 & 13 long, 14 & 15 short  (300 m swim / 15 km bike / 3 km run)

Registration is accepted onsite from 7:30 to 8:30am with the race beginning at 9am. All races start at the Pinawa pool. 

The following day, July 11th, the Free Spirit Triathlon and Duathlon will take place. Pinawa is known for its fast, flat course, which will see many of Manitoba’s top triathletes and duathletes racing for time qualifications to go onto national championships. 

The race distances for Sunday’s events are as follows:

Olympic Distance Triathlon 1500 m swim / 40 km cycle / 10 km run
Sprint Distance Triathlon 750 m swim / 20 km cycle / 5 km run
Duathlon 5km run / 40 km cycle / 10 km run

Registration at the Pinawa Marina runs from 6:30 to 7:30am with the Olympic distant race starting first from the Pinawa Sailing docks at 8:30am.
