May 19, 2004 --- Prestige Duathlon #2 Results


Marcoux and Ayers win Prestige Duathlon #2

Jacques Marcoux, our 2003 Junior Male athlete of the year, was the top long distance male finisher, in a time of 1:08:52, and Jenny Ayers was the top female finisher, in a time of 1:21:01. These athletes won the Prestige Duathlon #2 event, which consisted of a 4 km run followed by a 24.4 km bike and finished with another 4 km run; at Birds Hill Park on May 18th, 2004.  The series is a qualifier for funding to Duathlon Nationals for athletes racing in the long distance. 

In the short distance category, Chris Graham, the 2003 Rookie of the Year, outraced all other males in a time of 39:40. Jenna Wilson, the 2003 Most Improved athlete, placed first in the female category in a time of 41:48. These short course athletes completed a 2 km run followed by a 13.3 km bike and finished with a 2 km run.

The event had 148 participants turnout.  It was the second Duathlon in a three race series. The final event, Prestige Duathlon #3 will be held next Tuesday, May 25th, 6:30 PM at Birds Hill Park, in the East Beach area.  There is an event next week for the athletes who prefer the swim component -- the PanAmania Swim/Run on Sunday May 30th, 2004 at the Pan Am Pool.
