October 1, 2004 --- Four Manitobans medal at 2004 Duathlon Nationals in Quebec City


Erin Braun (Manitoba National Triathlon Centre) had a Golden finished to her last year as a junior competitor when she became the 2004 Canadian Junior Duathlon winner on Saturday in Quebec City.   Erin led the sprint-drafting event (5km run / 20km cycle / 2.5km run) from start to finish with a winning time of 1:12:21. 

Jenna Wilson, the 2003 junior champion, claimed the bronze medal in 1:14:36.   Following just 12 seconds behind was their MNTC teammate, Amy Briscoe who placed 4th.   This is the fourth year in a row an MNTC junior has won this category,  Amy won two consecutive years in 2001 and 2002, Jenna in 2003 and now Erin in 2004.

Jacques Marcoux (MNTC), the 2003 junior men’s champion, made a successful move up into the Under 23 category and Olympic distance racing (10km run, 40km cycle, 5km run) capturing the Silver medal.  Jacques 2:03:00 performance also placed him in 7th overall of the 34 elite male competitors.  

In the age group Olympic distance race, Jared Spier (Tribalistic club), won the gold medal in the men’s 25-29 event with a time of 2:05:15.  Jared’s cycling abilities, also gave him a 4th place overall placing of the 157 competitors.
