June 6, 2005 --- 1st Triathlon Weekend of the Season


The first triathlon weekend of the season will take place on June 11th and 12th, 2005.

On Saturday June 11th, the Triple Threat Kids of Steel® , Try-a-Tri, and Try-a-Du will be held at Birds Hill Park East Beach.  There are distances offered for youths aged 6 to 16 and the Try-a-Tri (300m Swim / 15K Cycle / 3K Run) and Try-a-Du (2K Run / 15K Cycle / 3K Run) are for beginner adults.

On Sunday June 12th, the Triple Threat Triathlon, which is Race #1 of the Manitoba Grand Prix and Sprint Series, will be held at Birds Hill Park East Beach. The Olympic distance Triathlon (1500m Swim / 40K Cycle / 10K Run) & Duathlon (5K Run / 40K Cycle / 10K Run) start at 8:05AM.  A Sprint distance Triathlon (750M Swim / 20K Cycle / 5K Run) and Sprint Duathlon (2.5K Run / 20K Cycle / 5K Run) start in the second wave.  The Sprint Duathlon is a new feature for the event in 2005.

Up in Northern Manitoba on June 12th, Flin Flon will be hosting a Kids of Steel® event and Try-a-Tri for adults.  The event will feature 3 different distances for athletes.
