July 21, 2006 --- Manitoba athletes heading to the "Rock"!

Manitoba is sending out a strong contingent of athletes to “Tri-Fest”, as it is affectionately known in Corner Brook, NL.  Tri-Fest consists of a week of festivities all revolving around Triathlon and Duathlon.  There is the Corner Brook Triathlon, a National Junior & Under 23 Sprint Triathlon, a Duathlon, a, ITU World Cup, and the 2006 World Duathlon Championships.

Blair Peters will be looking to continue his success in the National Junior & Under 23 Sprint Series on Sunday, July 23rd.  Peters is currently in the lead of the male junior category.  This is third event in the series, and Peters is looking for another win.  The course in Corner Brook is notorious for the level of difficulty and the challenge it poses to athletes.

Next week, on Saturday, July 29th, MNTC athletes Sarah-Anne Brault, Willie Bell, and Peters will head out to compete in the 2006 Duathlon World Championships.  Age group athletes Jared Spier of the Tribalistic Triathlon Team, and Dan Morwood of Kenora Borealis, will also be heading out to compete in the 30-34 age category.

Triathlon Manitoba wishes all of our athletes the best of luck and to have a great race!
