July 6, 2006 --- Free Spirit Triathlon - Duathlon in Pinawa this weekend!

The local Pinnacle Triathlon club will host the Free Spirit Triathlon-Duathlon on July 9^th, 2006 at the Pinawa Marina.  The Triathlon and Duathlon will include Olympic, Sprint, and Relay categories.  This race features an extremely flat and fast cycle course where any wind can cause a major obstacle.  Watch for Doug Pickering and Linda Markham, who have just returned from a successful weekend competing in the Canadian Triathlon Championships in Brampton, Ontario.  Check in and body marking will take place between 6:15-7:30 am.  There will be a pre-race meeting at 7:45 am with the race beginning at 8:30 am.

The weekend will also feature a Kids of Steel event at the Pinawa Pool on July 8^th.  The event has distances for youth ages 6 through 15 years, plus a fun tykes and trikes event for 5 and under.  Race day registration for this Kids of Steel event is from 7:30-8:15 am, so come early and cheer on some of our future champions!
