May 17, 2006 --- Another New Record!


The third duathlon of the season, took place on May 16th with event # 3 at Birds Hill Park.  One hundred and seventy-one athletes helped set a new participant record for the second week in a row at the Birds Hill Duathlon series! 

The event offered athletes a choice of 2 distances.  The overall winners for the medium distance event (4k run, 24k bike, and 4k run) were Lynne Laporte and Jared Spier who both belong to Tribalistic Triathlon team. 

Lynne Laporte, finished first in a time of 1:19:47.  She was followed by Cherrie Fournier of Tribalistic, in a time of 1:20:32.  Rounding off the podium in third place was Jenny Ayers of Tri MB, in a time of 1:21:47.   

Jared Spier of Tribalistic won his first event of the season in a time of 1:06:50.  Finishing closely behind was Michael Krauss of Tribalistic, in a time of 1:11:16.  Finishing in third place was Philippe Chabot of the Triple Threat Triathlon Team, in a time of 1:12:17.   

The short distance event consisted of a 2K run, 13K bike, and finished off with another 2K run.  The overall winners of the short distance event were Kimberley MacDonald of Triple Threat Triathlon Team and Sam Duncum of Tri MB. 

Kimberley MacDonald, completed the race in a time of 40:57.  Not far behind, finishing in second was Stevie Moore, who trains with the MNTC, with a time of 44:55.  Rounding off the women’s podium is Terri May of Tribalistic, with a time of 45:04. 

In the Men’s short distance category, Sam Dumcum of Tri MB won the distance in a time of 36:50.  Close on his tail was Glenn Romaniuk of Tri MB in a time of 39:20.  Finishing in third was Francois Legoupil of Tribalistic, in a time of 39:38.   

The final event of the Birds Hill Duathlon series takes place on Tuesday, May.23rd, 2006!  On-site registration 5:30 and race starts at 6:30pm!
